Letters of Gratitude

  • I'm working with three DCS children in Pima county. All three have laptop computers from your organization. They were all thrilled to have them, and they use them for their schoolwork, as well as staying in touch with each other as they have different placements.

  • "My youth is on the spectrum and was seriously declining in group care. Changes in medication didn't help. We realized his anxiety was due to long transports to and from his old school which meant getting home very late. There was a line for the house computers until lights out. My youth was overwhelmed about completing homework assignments. Your laptop has changed everything. He's getting his work done and nearly all of his anxiety is gone. THANK YOU!"

  • "My youth shared that riding the bus 3 hours round trip to get to the GED resource center to use the computers they had felt like a waste of time when he can be focusing on making money. A laptop was donated and he was able to complete his GED only 3 months later!"

  • "My young adult was transitioning to college and had been using his cell phone to apply for school, complete his FAFSA, and respond to other tasks and requests by the school. Not only would he need a laptop for college assignments, but just the application process was made more difficult with his lack of resources. Prior to having the laptop, he was determined to make things happen so he used what he had available and got the job done; not every youth is resilient and ambitious enough to think outside the box."

  • My youth who received the laptop for college is very thankful and thriving more now that he has it."

  • My youth will use this resource well as she will be expanding on her English. She also attends church and they will give her homework assignments to do. It will also allow her to have video calls with her parents as her mom resides in Guatemala and her siblings and father are in Florida. The laptop is a huge help to her everyday life and making sure her family connections stay intact.

  • We are all very grateful for the ability to get laptops for these children, who have so many challenges. It is wonderful to have this opportunity available, and I am very grateful for the generosity of all those involved in making this possible.

  • "My youth lived in a group home that only had two computers, which were used by both youth and staff for homework, telehealth appointments, emails, notes, applying for jobs, etc. My youth struggled to make progress in her credit recovery courses when she had limited resources. She expressed her barrier and after a laptop was donated to her, she has already started to make significant credit recovery strides and may be able to graduate with her class as a result of the opportunity."

  • "Plenty of youth in foster care come from neglectful homes where education wasn’t a priority and when in foster care often move around and change schools. Having access to a computer supports their ability to get assignments completed and make up for their educational deficits. Thank you!"

  • "My young adult was able to complete his GED shortly after he received the donated laptop. He had been working on his GED for over a year and had to utilize community resources and his cell phone to get access to studying materials and take practice tests."

  • "I received a laptop for one of my teens that was in desperate need of one being she has monthly health issues that cause her to miss school. Now that she has her own laptop she is able to complete assignments from home when she is needing to."

  • "My youth is going to be aging out in a year this is a great tool for her to use for her college she plans on attending. Thank you for the generosity and providing a perfect tool for those children that are less fortunate to receive a laptop for their educational needs."

  • "We often make assumptions about people based on the effort we see, but resources (like laptops) really make an impact on one’s ability to thrive. We might think “it’s not that hard to just do the homework that’s assigned or apply to jobs, it’s all online now-a-days”, but access to the internet or devices to use the internet are privileges we often take for granted. I was able to see much progress and happiness from my youth that received laptops. It also gave me more perspective as a social worker for what we take for granted and how a simple tangible can open worlds of opportunity to those who receive it. I hope we can continue to impact youth and set them up for success with donations of laptops and any other resources that remove barriers to their success."
